Even in Bali, it’s sometimes important to get away from it all and Candi Dasa is a pretty accessible place.

Candi Dasa is a quiet, sleepy seaside town in eastern Bali that rests on the edge of a lagoon.

When we come back from Darmaji we like to go to an old-fashioned restaurant on the beach, which has been there forever, overlooking the beach, the shipping boats and huge rocks, where you can see Nusa Penida in the distance.

Spending time in east Bali last year reassured us that Candi Dasa is once again extremely proud of its self. Post the Bali bombings a lack of visitors resulted in the town looking truly unloved. I still remember how sad we felt when we saw the level of pollution in the beautiful lotus lagoon.

We look forward to another revitalizing visit to this delightful seaside town in July. Jonathan, you have captured the natural beauty along with the feel of Candi Dasa in your images, thank you.

  2. Thank you very much for your kind comments. I’m delighted that you liked the images. Candi Dasa is indeed a very special place. In July don’t forget to go to the unique village of Tenganan.
